This Ginseng Ficus is also called ‘Pot Bellied Ficus. Ginseng refers to the “trunk’s” similar look to a Ginseng plants roots. It is in fact just one of the many varieties of Ficus Microcarpa, also called Ficus Retusa. The Ginseng Ficus plant has two or more large roots that have been elevated above the soil level to create what appear to be a trunk and then a cluster of branches arising out of the roots. A foliage canopy is perched over the roots to finish off the bonsai.
Shape the crown to your liking when new leaves appear. The bonsai is perfect for a place that gets very bright direct light or diffused sun light. The plant can also be kept in a place which gets some direct sun but not full day sun. The shape of the plant may differ from that seen in the picture.
